Western Coach Whip

Masticophis flagellum

Coachwhips are varied in color...green, red, pink, black, and combinations thereof. They are large, slim and quick...They eat whatever they can catch, lizards, rodents, birds, eggs, snakes, even rattlesnakes are on their menu!

To catch one of these animals is a lesson you'll never forget! They bite repeatedly, thrash wildly, and spray a smelly musk. Just let the snakes be!
