The
Arizona Black Rattlesnake is often called a "timber rattler" because it
is often found in the higher elevations/mountainous regions.
This species is said to be mild mannered, and based on
severral I have seen, I'd have to agree.
What is neat about this species is that they have a lot of
variability in the hue. Some animals are jet black, and others are charcoal
gray. To further confuse the topic, they can change their color in short
time! All these specimens were found
near Clifton Arizona along the San Franscisco River. |
