Mojave Rattlesnake

Crotalus scutulatus

This snake also has a "coontail", but the white bands are much wider than the black. They are sometimes a greenish hue, but brown is also common. The scales on top of the head, between the eyes are larger than on a WDB, also the "scut" has white "eyebrows". Commonly found across Southern and Western Arizona, most of the specimens I've seen were 3-4 feet long.

Some Mojave rattlesnake populations have a neurotoxic component in their venom and that fact gives them a fearsome reputation. But I'll tell ya, in my experience, the Mojave's I've met have been well mannered but reluctant to socialize.
