Here's a dangerous animal to
mess with! The
legendary "coontail" rattler. Sometimes they are confused with Mojave
Rattlers, but the easiest way to tell the difference is that the black and
white tail bands of a WDB are roughly equal in width, whereas a Mojave has
white tail bands a lot wider than the black. Another way to tell is that the
WDB has several small scales between the supraocular scales (the large
scales over the eyes.). The Mojave has 2-3 large scales between the
supraoculars and...white "eyebrows" (the outside edge of their supraoculars
is white.). |
